Halfway between Frostburg and Westernport, atop a sixteen mile long ridge along the George's Creek valley in western Allegany county, Maryland, is Dan's Mountain State Park -- 480 acres of highland meadow, forest, mountain brooks, and a fishing pond; picnic areas, playgrounds, park benches, and an outdoor heated swimming pool. Four rental pavilions with amenities for large private gatherings, 30 to 60 people are available, scattered around the park area.

Hill Run Pavilion
Set in a forested area, secluded from the main park: A large shelter open on three sides with a large stone fireplace in the fourth side; two barbeque grills and a water tap just outside; restroom building with running water a short walk up the hill; a small cleared "meadow" surrounded by picnic tables, suitable for games or dancing; a small parking lot next to the main road only a short carrying distance from the pavilion; a medium length hike to the fishing pond. Water Station Run Pavilion
Set in a forested area, secluded from the main park: A medium shelter open on four sides with a large barbeque grill just outside; "overlooks" the fishing pond just down the hill and shares the small parking lot with the pond, just off the main road, only a short carrying distance away from the shelter; portable chemical restroom just down the hill; no on-site water source. Pythian Pavilion
Just across the large parking lot from the swimming pool in the main park meadow area: A large shelter open on four sides with an open patio deck and at an easy carrying distance from the road; water source just outside and restroom building a short distance away; horse shoe pitch next door, historical marker and overlook nearby; playground and open meadow area a short walk up the hill.
